Winter Adventure
Outdoor adventure this January.
Time for a winter adventure!
Last two weekends I have been on outdoor trips.
First one I walked about 25 km and slept in a shelter. Wonderful solo hike in cold but beautiful winter weather. There is something about crisp cold sunny winter weather. It's just wonderful.
I was a bit worried the night would be cold and miserable but I slept just fine. Part of the explanation is that I slept in a shelter instead of a tent (I think). The other part is that I'm getting better at this. I have had many cold nights and I have learned to prevent the worst of it. I still have lots to learn but I'm getting better with every trip.
My second adventure was a shelter trip with friends. We sat around the fire all evening and enjoyed life despite the environment being cold, wet, and windy.
When I drove down for the trip the weather was absolutely miserable. High winds and rain. When we arrived at camp it stopped raining and the wind died down a bit - better but still not great. But once we were out in it, that did not bother us too much. We enjoyed the trip and had a good time.
Overall these two adventures have been great. They have lifted my spirits immensely. And I'm excited for more to come this year. I'm glad I pushed myself to get out. I've been a bit down this winter as I generally don't find the nature in Denmark that exciting. Especially not in winter. But when I do get out I usually enjoy it.
